Rundlewalker Solicitors Support Vital Road Safety Event Following Tragic 2024 Statistics.

Rundlewalker Solicitors are proud to support a recent road safety event held by Devon and Cornwall Police at Haldon Forest, near Exeter, to promote road safety. The event was in response to the shocking number of road deaths across Devon and Cornwall in 2024. According to the latest figures, 56 people lost their lives on the region’s roads last year - a devastating increase that has prompted renewed calls for improved safety, education and respect among all road users. Forty-eight people were killed on Devon and Cornwall roads in 2023, with a further 702 people seriously injured, according to figures from the Department for Transport (DfT).

A Call for Awareness and Action
The event brought together emergency services, road safety professionals, charities, and community leaders to raise awareness of the human cost of road incidents. The message was clear: everyone - whether on horseback, bike, motorcycle or behind the wheel - must play their part in making our roads safer.

Professional Insight and First-Hand Experience
Speaking about the recent event and the road safety challenges facing the region, Roger Henderson said: “The rise in fatalities across Devon and Cornwall in 2024 is deeply concerning. I have worked with road safety stakeholders for many years, and I know how critical it is that we continue to educate and support all road users. Whether you are driving, cycling, riding or walking, we all have a responsibility to take extra care and show respect on the roads. The consequences of not doing so can be life-changing - or life-ending.” Roger added, “If you have been involved in an accident involving a horse, a cycle or a motorised vehicle, the implications can be profoundly serious, physically, emotionally and financially. You need to act swiftly and get the right legal advice.”

my horse was injured in a road accidentVision Zero’s ambition is to cut road deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040 – and to reduce current numbers by 50% by 2030.

In 2023, 48 people were killed and 689 seriously injured* on Devon and Cornwall's roads. That number MUST come down. While the region is one of the safest when it comes to road safety, we believe that any death or serious injury is too many.

“I came to Rundlewalker nervous and unsure if I had a claim for the psychological trauma I had experienced. Roger was patient and honest with me throughout the process and with his knowledge, competence and persistence, I was awarded a good settlement.“ Google 5-Star Review.

"Thank you to Rundlewalker for the excellent help and advice given for my personal injury case. Roger was experienced, diligent, knowledgeable and highly organised, as well as great at providing updates at each step of the way. The USP for me (amidst a  variety of alternative online offers) is that the firm is LOCAL and accessible, and it's possible to speak to a lawyer in person; this can make all the difference, especially when the going gets tough, and this generates trust." “I am very pleased with the outcome of my claim and was awarded a very large settlement thanks to Roger Henderson and his team at Rundlewalker. I felt assured that everything was taken into account and I was kept thoroughly informed throughout the entire claim process. Roger went above my expectation to get me the compensation I deserved, following an horrendous RTA. I would have no hesitation in recommending this firm to anyone who is seeking an honest and professional service.”
